KIK Consumer Products Accountant in Houston, Texas

Your Role at KIK

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join our plant finance team in the Medical Center area of Houston, TX within our Consumer Brands Division (KCB). This role is based in Houston, TX.

What You’ll Be Doing

General:

  • Process Accounts Payables for Houston plant location.

  • Maintain general ledger including review and explain spend variances.

  • Perform general ledger close-out duties and reconciliations.

  • Prepare periodic management reports and accompanying schedules.

  • Analyze weekly Payroll/Earned Hours and verify Actual vs Standard variances.

  • Assist in Annual external and internal control audits.

  • Participate in annual budget and periodic forecast process.

  • Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned.

Costing:

  • Setup and revise bills of material and routing, along with cost rolls.

  • Review and explain material variance, purchase price variance, and cost change.

  • Analyze and calculate areas of cost savings in manufacturing processes.

Inventory Control:

  • Assist with full physical, cycle counts, and spare parts inventory

  • Work with manufacturing and warehouse personnel to track and reconcile inventory discrepancies/variances

  • Analyze and report slow-moving and/or obsolete inventory

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or general business with a concentration in accounting with at GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Proficient in GAAP

  • 1+ years of experience with general staff accounting

  • General understanding of manufacturing plant operations (industry experience must include manufacturing)

  • Experience with JD Edwards E1 a plus and/or major ERPs

  • Must meet deadlines and deliver quality results with a “can do” attitude

  • Must be well organized, have excellent communication skills and be a team player

  • Resourceful, multi-tasking, and root cause driven toward resolution

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Advance Excel user, experience with modeling)
