Your Role at KIK

The Transportation Planner Develop will help implement transportation plans and strategies to improve efficiency, reduce congestion, and enhance the sustainability of transportation systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Plan, schedule and ensure the timely delivery of the company's freight to a multi-regional geographic area using Oracle Transportation Management System (OTM).

  • Responsible for tendering loads, successful dispatch and pick-up of planned loads and subsequent ownership of loads

  • Provide cross functional support on transportation related queries

  • Identify and lead cross functional projects

  • Identify trends to mitigate detention charges and other accessorial charges and seek resolution.

  • Identify and execute opportunities to improve processes and reduce freight spend

  • Utilize network balance capacity tools to determine location of trucks and available customer loads, tailor planning to meet area needs.

  • Understand daily capacity demand and pro-actively communicate to appropriate leadership.

  • Utilize Network Decision Support tools to assign loads to trucks (OTM, PC Miler) ensuring customers' service requirements are met

  • Communicate late pickups and/or deliveries, as well as any other load changes, to appropriate department personnel while holding carriers accountable for on time pickup/ delivery

  • Utilize analytical tools within Oracle Transportation Management and Excel to review key shipment and planning metrics as well as costs to move freight to optimize network.

  • Other duties as assigned, such as transportation compliance audits, KPI reporting, and project support.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree is ideal, however will consider 3 years relevant work experience in lieu of degree

  • Thorough knowledge of the freight industry, including TL, LTL, Intermodal, and Parcel

  • 2+ years’ experience with Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) and ERPs - JDE E1 and SAP, other Transportation Management software experience acceptable

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel

  • Ability to plan, think ahead, and prepare action plans to achieve results

  • Manages multiple competing priorities well under pressure

  • Knowledge of US DOT Regulations, Hours of Service, Weight Limitations, US Geography

  • Demonstrates initiative, self-starter, and a sense of urgency

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and details with accuracy

  • Good organization and time management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Team player with winning attitude
